Description

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility.

IN this book I do not profess to present a complete biography of Anne Boleyn, or an exhaustive history of her times.

It contains merely a sketch of some events in the reign of Henry VIII.

With which the name of Anne Boleyn is intimately connected.

Short and incomplete as my account of these events is, it will, I hope, draw attention to certain aspects of the period between 1527 and 1536 which have not hitherto been sufficiently explained.

The sources from which I have derived my materials may be roughly divided into five great classes.

First of all, there is the English correspondence of Henry, his ministers, and his subordinate agents, with sundry proclamations, accounts, treaties, and similar papers.

Secondly, there is the correspondence of Charles V.
