He would stress that his name was Jean (Xon)not like the jeans you wear but more like Jean in Jean-PaulSartre, the French philosopher. The more he was teased, themore he felt that his explanation would enlighten his friends. One day, as Bobby the bus driver was listening to yet anotherlong explanation, he said, Well just call you J.P. and you couldtell people that it stands for Junior Philosopher.

The name stuck and he developed into the character of a juniorphilosopher explaining and questioning. When his teachersappeared to have no faith in his abilities as a student, he hadto ask his grandfather why.
