We can only approve of the judgment of the early Christians, who while acknowledging this Epistle as the work of Barnabas, thought it not worthy of a place in the New Testament.

Had it been limited to the last four chapters, we should gladly have seen it standing beside the other Apostolic Epistles.

Those latter chapters can alone be profitably read for religious instruction.
