Description

Fluorosis stains. The dentist is in complete control of the process throughout treatment.

It takes more clinical time and has serious safety considerations.

The walking or intra coronal bleaching of non vital teeth is done with sodium perborate which when fresh releases 9.9% oxygen.

High concentration of hydrogen peroxide can be used synergistically to enhance effect.

When stable dry perborate is acted by acid , warm air or water decomposes to form sodium metaborate , hydrogen peroxide and nascent oxygen.

External root resorption and chemical burns are major hindrances but have been overpowered.

The combination approach to bleaching technique should incorporate the ability to employ agents and techniques in proper sequence to achieve an excellent esthetic result.

It is best to go from the least invasive, most cost effective first, unless other circumstances such as time and compliance alter.

Indications may include stains of multiple origin. Enamel microabrasion which is a method of removing certain enamel desmineralization and decalcification coloration defects with insignificant and unrecognizable loss of enamel.
