Description

As a discipline and practice, Political Science is undergoing a radical transformation.

In the initial years, Political Science was popularly perceived as the science of the study of sharing and shaping of power in society.

Naturally, Political Science focused on different models of governance, political culture, political ideologies, international relations, diplomacy and the philosophy of statecraft and administration.

Nevertheless, the last two decades had witnessed several important developments including the fall of communism, ideological triumph of liberal democracy, proliferation of information technology, mobility of capital beyond national boundaries, ethnic revivalism, rise of Islamic terrorism, spread of social media, empowerment of women and finally the new role of public sphere and network democracy.

As a result, Political Science has transcended its disciplinary boundaries and broadened its scope to embrace the diverse issues, problems and prospects emerging out of these new trends.

In this context, it would be interesting to understand the dynamics of these new influences on political science. This book is a modest attempt to introduce some of these new waves to the readers who are interested in the arts and science of politics.

The book consists of a collection of articles ranging from power politics and Islamic terrorism to the politics of social media and political marketing.

The chapters include conceptual articles as well as experiences from different countries.

In nutshell, the book presents the latest perspectives on the science of Politics.
