The only option was to wake up my oblivious parents, who remained fast asleep in their own room.

They hadn't noticed the disturbance at all. But then, I heard it-a faint rustling of paper and the clink of a glass being shifted on the table.

The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning. I had to discover the intruder's identity, and I had to do it quickly.
