The 826 Quarterly, Volume 8, Paperback / softback Book

The 826 Quarterly, Volume 8 Paperback / softback

Paperback / softback

Description

The 826 Quarterly, Volume 8 is the outcome and chronicle of five years' success, not only as an innovative grassroots education collective but also for the quality of the writing.

Featuring poems, short stories, and nonfiction pieces, this particular issue grew out of the 826 Summer Camp experience.

As with every issue, the editors chose the best of the submissions from the 826 Valencia crew, students Valencia has worked with, and youth from any of the San Francisco Bay Area's schools who want to write for a literary journal.

Created by and for young people from elementary through high school, The 826 Quarterly doesn't talk up or down to the readers but straight across.

The issue is divided into three categories: Workshops, English Language Learners, and At-Large Submissions.

Individual entries include "How I Got My O.W.A. Card," by Lydia Warren; "Blotchy Transparent Gray," by Ozzie Pippenger; "I Don't Know Why I'm Crying Tonight," by Mia O'Brien; and many more.

Printed in a unique, kid-friendly trim size that's ideal for hip-pocket or bookbag, this is the first volume to contain photographs either taken by the authors to illustrate their stories or used by them for inspiration in writing.
