Description
In the southwest of Romania, the Anina Mountains are a typical karst landscape with numerous canyons, caves, karst lakes and waterfalls.
They form the southern part of the Western Romanian Carpathians and are part of the Banat Mountains.
In former times, the population of many towns made their living from mining.
The inhabitants of the small villages often came from Germany to work in the mines.
Today, the mines are closed and slowly, this wild and romantic mountain landscape is becoming of interest to the tourism industry.
