The Breath of Earth, Paperback / softback Book

The Breath of Earth Paperback / softback

Part of the Frozen World series

Paperback / softback

Description

The Anai have lived in their valley since time immemorial, depending on a unique microclimate that enabled them to grow crops and sustain a settlement in the midst of Antarctica. Now, in a post-war world, the treasures of the frozen continent are coveted by many countries, including the Eastern States of America, a new political entity.

American geologists declare that the entire region is unstable due to the magma reservoir responsible for the valley's hot springs. Allegedly to prevent a volcanic eruption, they assert the necessity of drilling into the main hot pool, which would bring down the temperature in the valley. An entire ecosystem is threatened... But is it justified? Or does the intervention have a different, sinister purpose?

In the meantime, the Antarctosaurus colony that thrives in the valley is under threat as well. The scientist and pioneer Scott Buckley, together with his Anai wife Ki Tahan and other brave men and women of Antarctica, are determined to save the valley with its people and animals.
