Leonard the Lion makes Fairy Cora swear she will not give up his secret, even though the fairy protests that he should share his sentiment with the sweet butterfly. In the meantime, her sisters Scarlett and Daphne are among the flowers listening to Barbara the Butterfly tell them how kind and generous she finds her leonine friend, Leonard, who keeps predators from her lovely fields and who has such a warm smile and cute face. But she, too, pleads with her friends to keep her feelings a secret.

Began Scarlett, "and you love to fly, and he loves to crawl.

But despite all the differences that stand in your way,

You might share a love that makes those differences fade."


With vibrant and playful illustrations and a lilting rhyming text, The Lion's Secret is a lively read-aloud that shares the beauty of unlikely love and the trust of true friendships. Author Karen M.
