Dabei ist die musikalische Gestaltung so vielfältig wie das Jahr selbst. Der Sommer etwa ist dabei bunt in lebhaften Rhythmen gezeichnet, während mit Ring out, wild bells der Winter in kühler Distanz begrüßt wird. Die etwa 18 Minuten Aufführungsdauer sind vollgepackt mit komplexen rhythmischen Gegenüberstellungen und lieblichen Melodien, die die vorder- und hintergründige Lyrik der Texte entfalten.
