Description

The Lampstand is a fictionalized account of the first 100 years of the struggling new movement later known as Christianity: It is told from multiple first person viewpoints, as the drama of the lives and struggles of the people involved, both disciples within the movement and those antagonistic to it, plays out.

In the course of this narrative the origin and meaning of some of the earliest gnostic gospels, thought to be Christs secret teachings given to the disciples during the forty days following his resurrection, is explored.

Within the historical background, the persecution by both Jewish and Roman leaders, the spiritual growth of the first apostles as they endure, learn and deepen in their faith through these trials forms the basis of this deeply profound and important story, told with insight, compassion and love.
