Black American Women Novelists : An Annotated Bibliography Hardback
by Craig Werner
Part of the Magill Bibliographies series
Hardback
Description
This bibliography serves three primary purposes. First, it provides a historical overview of commentary on black women novelists and their most important works; second, it helps identify current issues and future directions in the criticism of these works, and third, it suggests contextual information that will help students and critics avoid serious misunderstanding of these works. The bibliography begins with a thorough examination of the criticism of Afro-American literature and the recent recognition of black women's literature, in particular. The author provides an excellent overview of the historical development of the critical commentary on black women's novels. A number of general sources follow the introduction.
This general section includes entries under the headings 'Biography' and 'Commentary,' followed by entries keyed to specific novels, listed in alphabetical order.
