Description

Triple bill of sci-fi adventures based on Veronica Roth's young adult trilogy.

Set in a future where society is divided into five distinct factions based on personality traits, 'Divergent' (2014) follows Beatrice 'Tris' Prior (Shailene Woodley) as she undergoes a test to determine which faction she belongs to.

Afterwards, she finds out she meets the criteria for more than one and is therefore Divergent - a rare occurrence which puts her and others like her in danger.

Her secret is known only to a small number of people and she is forced to make a decision about which faction to join.

In the end, she opts for Dauntless, a faction made up of the brave, and as she undergoes initiation, her fellow members begin to grow suspicious of her and her behaviour.

On top of this, she also uncovers a plot by another faction's leader, Jeanine (Kate Winslet), to seek out and destroy all Divergents, making the potential threat of exposure all the more dangerous.

In the sequel 'Insurgent' (2015), Tris and Four (Theo James) are on the run as the separate factions continue to be torn apart by war and inner conflict.

The Divergents frantically search for reasons behind the violent uprising as they continue to be hunted by its initiator Jeanine.

The group visits the other faction's compounds in their search for allies as defectors choose sides for the looming war.

But as Tris struggles with the horrors and grief of previous events she finds out some shocking truths about the origin and future of their fractured world.

In 'Allegiant' (2016) Tris and Four venture beyond the wall surrounding Chicago for the first time.

After breaching the city's boundary, the pair are taken to the Bureau of Genetic Welfare where they finally discover the origins of their enclosed society.

When they learn the truth about the experiment in Chicago, Tris and Four are forced to decide where their true allegiance lies as the Bureau, led by David (Jeff Daniels), threatens to destroy their home and wipe out everyone they know.
