Description
Highlights from the Men's Singles fourth round match between Roger Federer and Pete Sampras at the 2001 Wimbledon Championships.
Having won seven of the previous eight Wimbledon finals, Sampras was favourite to win an unprecedented eighth title.
However, in the fourth round he came up against a 19-year-old former Wimbledon Junior Champion called Roger Federer.
It was the first meeting between the two now-legendary players and the match went to a deciding fifth set with the young Swiss emerging victorious and causing one of biggest upsets in Wimbledon history.
Federer went on to lose in the quarter finals to Tim Henman, but two years later he won his first Wimbledon title and began his own period of dominance.
