Description

The first complete audio recording in English of the spiritual text of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib with beautiful, soothing background music. This relaxing recording enables an English-speaking audience to understand and experience the spiritual wisdom of the Sikh Faith.

Play selected tracks from it, listen to it in its entirety or put the album on repeat to create a continuous vibration of peace and tranquility in your home or other space. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is more than just a scripture.

The Sikhs regard and respect the Granth (holy book) as their living Guru.

The revealed holy text spans 1,430 pages and contains the actual words spoken by the founders of the Sikh way of life. The Sikh Gurus incorporated not only their own sacred poetry, but also included the poems of another 30 saints from different religions, places and times. These songs are set to 31 different musical scales, called ragas, that evoke the feelings of different times of day, different emotions and the seasons of the year. The Guru Granth Sahib is now considered to be the "perpetual Guru" as there are no longer individual gurus who head the Sikh tradition.

The sacred poetry and teachings contained in the Guru Granth Sahib are the final authority in Sikh spirituality and tradition. Listening to these songs of wisdom evokes feelings of peace and contentment in the listener.

The words speak of eternal truths and the nature of reality.

The background accompaniment is comprised of nature sounds and soothing spiritual music. The English translation of the original text is by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa, except for the opening verses known as “Japji Sahib” which have been translated by Guruka Singh Khalsa.

The readers include recording artists Sirgun Kaur and Sat Kirn Kaur along with SikhNet founders Guruka Singh and Gurumustuk Singh and others.
