Description

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility.

Much of this material has been preserved in the tombs of the period, which rank among the richest and most important ever discovered.

The majority of these burial de posits were found during the l9th century, and have long been known to scientists.

For various reasons however none of the most important have ever been properly published and for many of the details the archaeologist who has not direct access to the material still has to rely on the inadequate drawings which date from the time of the original discovery.

The present catalogue is an attempt to make more accessible to the public one of the richest of these tombs, the Bernardini, of which the contents are exhibited in the Museo Preistorico in Rome.
