Aranyakand : Forest Saga Paperback / softback

Edited by Mini Krishnan

Paperback / softback

Description

Poverty, debt, and starvation are the conditions that define the existence of a group of labourers.

As outcastes they face extreme resentment from other village folk and journey to a faraway place in search of sustenance.

Once there, another series of nightmarish events unfolds and their lives continue to mirror the age-old clash between the wealthy and the downtrodden.

In a desperate attempt to return home, the group escapes to a forest where it encounters nature which is no longer benign.

Will this group complete its odyssey? Or is 'home' a mere illusion, forever beyond reach? A hard-hitting tale of trauma, loss, and the innate will to survive, Aranyakand is a sensitive and realistic portrayal of the lives of the oppressed.
