Architect Albert Simons was foremost among this group and contributed mightily to the cultural milieu of the Charleston Renaissance through his architectural design and passion for preservation.

Although he preferred the more traditional Beaux-Arts and Classical styles, his unique ability to balance them with modernism was deeply embedded in the ethos of Charleston and the renaissance that spurred the city's rebirth as an international destination defined by its architectural heritage. A foreword is provided by Witold Rybczynski, an award-winning author of numerous books including Charleston Fancy: Little Houses and Big Ideas in the Holy City.
