Guadalupe Island (fig 2) is about 37 km (23 miles) long north and south, 12 km (8 miles) wide, and 1295 m (4257 feet) high, with an area of about 250 km2 (98 square miles).

It is rather uniformly high in the northern third, the highest point, Mt.
