I bought the book because I liked the cover painting. I read it and then devoured most of this great man's work. Fortunately there is a lot of it, and - even more fortunately - most of it is fine and sensitive stuff. Powys was a pantheistic eco warrior before there were such things, and consequently his work is prescient and even more timely for a modern audience.
