Part of the Monografie Lotnicze series

Paperback / softback

Description

The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engined World War II heavy bomber made initially by Avro for the Royal Air Force (RAF).

Used in many key operations by the RAF during the war, including the raid on Hamburg, Operation Chastise, and Operation Manna, dropping crucial food supplies to the Netherlands. The first part of the book illustrates the history of the Avro company, including its aircraft before the Lancaster was born.

The next chapter describes the Lancaster's predecessor, the Avro 679 Manchester.

The main part of the book focuses extensively on the Avro 683 Lancaster's design, development, combat service and its variants.

Camouflage and markings are also described. The Lancaster successors, including the Lincoln, and the Lancastrian, are also featured. About Monografie LotniczeThis series is published in Polish with English photo captions, and presents the most popular, most interesting and the best aircraft design of the 20th century.
