'Congratulations, you have decided to open this book, even though you have no idea what it's about, and the cover is weird and seemingly at cross-purposes and possibly even pretentious.

But you opened it anyway. And you know what? That was a design decision. Yes indeed, whether you realised it or not, most of the decisions you make, every day, are by design...Take my word for it, you are a designer. 'Chip Kidd opens with the promise that everyone is a designer, and uses every page to show the reader why that is.

Each spread explains and demonstrates a critical introductory graphic design concept, the same ones taught in the first year of art school: form, size, scale, repetition and pattern, colour, typography, etc.

Beautifully designed, and clearly explained, GO: A Kidd's Guide to Graphic Design, is an original, truly one of a kind.

A quick and basic introduction to graphic design, with excellent examples and Kidd's good humor shining through. Colorful and, dare I say it, well-designed.

This was a delightful and interesting guide to the way words and colors are used to relay information. Chip Kidd has designed many books covers which he shares with the reader. Among them are covers for Jurassic Park, IQ84, and superhero graphic novels. This would be an excellent introduction to the subject for middle school and high school students.

This was an interesting book. I've never thought much about graphic design, so there was plenty of information that was new to me. For those who are interested in graphic design, I think they will find this book informative and useful. I particularly liked the 10 design projects, and have chosen to complete two of them.
Design project #7 Create your own visual identity.
Design project #8 Mark your stuff.
