Review by JohnnyBrooks
This series started off so wonderfully with Eragon, and then took a nose dive with Eldest. Brisingr was Christopher Paolini’s chance to pull on the stick and save his failing story. Unfortunately he only managed to nudge the stick and level the story out a bit.The action picks up and lasts for a good bit. I quite enjoyed the story involving Roran, Eragon’s cousin/brother. Roran is everything Eragon is not, but namely he’s human and acts that way.Just when you think the action is going well, it just peters out or abruptly is transformed into sitting around in meetings to elect kings. Sigh.I’m not sure I will be returning to the fourth installment, though since my son likes the story the book may be around the house, which means I will end up reading it, as I can’t just leave a book lying around that I haven’t yet read.
