Light's latest machinations are putting a strain on even his formidable intellect as Near flies to Japan to beard Kira in his den.

Near is sure that Light is Kira, but his sense of honour as L's heir will allow no doubts.

He doesn't want to just stop the Kira murders, he wants to expose Light as the Death Note killer.

Light thinks he's up to the challenge, but will the pressures of his fiancee, his new flame, and his acolyte prove to be fatal distractions?

It's a good thing this series is coming to a close, because reading this book was actually tedious at times. The final volume, due in July 2007, had better be worth it.

This volume really filled me with excitement, even though it frustrated me a lot as well; having read all 12 volumes in a quite short space of time, I've found Ohba's style of writing to be quite linear. Nothing wrong with that, but it's like reading all of the adventure of Sherlock Holmes in a row: you get to know the author and the author's style of writing. Even though this book exemplifies Ohba's writing to a t and he is very good at twisting the plot, it left me itching...a little bit less than I thought it would, considering the entire series is due to end. Despite that - and the fact that Near irritates me slightly by being too Godlike in my opinion - I'm very happy to be reading this series, as there's nothing really like it out there (not to my knowledge, anyhow).

This book was very amazing. I felt exciting reading this book. Light Yagami is an ace student. Everything changes when he finds a death note , a notebook dropped by a death god. Whoever name's in the notebook they die. If you read this manga you would be amazed!!!

This is the beginning of the end. I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends. The suspense here is better than in some of the previous volumes. The artwork is still on par with what it has been since the beginning. On to the last volume!
